DIVCON teamed up with Stone Ridge Construction and sent a crew north of Glacier National Park, 12 miles from the Canadian border. They travelled up the infamous “Road to Polebridge”, deep within the drainage basin of the North Fork of the Flathead River. The objective was to construct a fish barrier on Moose Creek to preserve one of the last crucial strongholds for genetically pure westslope cutthroat trout. The team worked on temporarily diverting the stream and building a cast in place concrete weir to prevent the North Fork non-native rainbow trout from traveling up Moose Creek and hybridizing with the westslope cutthroat.
This project was for: Flathead National Forest, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Bonneville Power Administration
